Sony Look Profiles are designed to simplify the colour grading process. The advantage of this is far greater control over the finished image than would be possible with material shot natively in REC.709. For comparison sake, Premiere Pro handles the footage just fine. Due to the vast amount of information recorded in S-Log footage, the image needs to be tuned to fit the REC.709 standard. Most of sony’s cameras that support S-Log3 or Hybrid Log Gamma also have a function called Viewfinder Display Gamma Assist. What can I do but wait I suppose? This is such a niche issue that I'm concerned it may be a while until this is fixed. I wonder if there are errors in the new updates that are causing performance issues. The benefits of S-Log S-Log workflow LUT Library What is S-Log S-Log is a log curve which has been specially optimized for digital motion picture cameras to maximize the performance of the image sensor. Final Cut Pro recently received some updates involving HDR support, as well as updates to its handling of Sony XAVC codec (listed in 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 release notes). This was not always the case that HLG was slow! I bet the issue has something to do with the new updates. Definitely what my $3500 16" was made to do. Funny enough, so does footage from my Sony when using Cine4 color profiles. I mention in specific that the HLG footage is the issue, because higher bitrate 4K footage from my GH5 are absolute butter, edits incredibly fast with realtime unrendered playback. Use in any color grading app like DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, and. I literally have had to render out my timeline every few minutes to check my timing for cuts, it's impossible to check unrendered, too choppy. Below, youll find our free color transform LUT for Sony S-Log 3 footage. Better quality or better performance previewing. Whether there are adjustments/efffects or no adjustments. It's similar to the effect of editing off a terribly slow hard drive (but I'm editing off the internal SSD). Un-rendered timeline playback is choppy at best, often lagging/freezing for ~3 seconds when moving from one clip to another (during playback). Noticing strangely slow editing performance. I'm editing footage from my Sony a7iii with the picture profile HLG3 + rec2020 HDR. I believe there is an un-rendered timeline playback performance error/bug with (at least) HLG footage from the Sony a7iii.Ģ019 16" MacBook Pro (2.3Ghz 8-core i9, 64GB RAM, 8GB Radeon 5500)
